RWTH Students Win 2015 Logistics Masters
RWTH student Jan Brinker has won the 2015 Logistics Masters competition. The 29-year old industrial engineer beat the competition of about 1,600 participants from over 160 German-speaking higher education institutions. Brinker, a doctoral candidate, will receive a prize money of 6,000 Euros, awarded by the logistics company Dachser and the specialist journal VerkehrsRundschau.
His fellow RWTH student Sami Charaf Eddine, who won the Logistics Masters competition last year, came in second place. Like Brinker, the Industrial Engineering graduate is currently a doctoral candidate at RWTH Aachen. As Professor Hans-Jürgen Sebastian from the Deutsche Post Endowed Chair of Optimization of Distribution Networks at RWTH Aachen emphasized, “to be once again among the winners of the Logistics Masters is an outstanding achievement.”
This year, 88 students succeeded in securing the title of “Top Logistics Student 2015”. This distinction is awarded to participants who gain at least 85% of the maximum possible score. According to Professor Sebastian, “those among this top group of logistics students have a strong reference for their future applications.”
The Logistics Masters is the largest knowledge competition for logistics students. This year, a record number of students participated in the competition. Logistics professors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland supported the competition by providing competition questions.
