Professor Marold Wosnitza and Hanno Bennemann sign a new cooperation agreement between RWTH Aachen and the 4th Aachen Comprehensive School

RWTH Aachen and the 4th Aachen Comprehensive School have signed a two-year cooperation agreement. The key aim is to evaluate the alternative teaching concept applied in the school on a continual basis.

"This agreement takes our collaboration to a new level,” said Professor Marold Wosnitza from the RWTH Institute of Educational Science. Since 2013, he and his team have been investigating the school’s teaching concept, which takes the relationship between a pupil’s responsibility and his or her motivation and pride in learning achievement into account.

In future, teaching and learning processes inside and outside of the classroom shall be investigated. “We are looking forward to gaining interesting new insights, so that we can further develop and refine our approach,” said school director Hanno Bennemann.

The 4th Aachen Comprehensive School was established in 2011 and is still being developed. The school seeks to encourage self-directed, responsible and sustainable learning in teaching offices, workshops, and special project periods.

For several years, the RWTH institute of Educational Science has been advising and collaborating with schools in the region. The institute places great emphasis on exchange with practitioners in schools, and dialogue and collaboration with schools are an important part of the mission statement for the teacher training programs at RWTH Aachen.
