Road Construction and Transport
The Aachen Road Construction and Transport Days will be held on November 26 and 27. They are being organized by the RWTH research association Straßenwesen, Erd- und Tunnelbau Aachen e. V. and the Vereinigung der Straßenbau- und Verkehrsingenieure in Nordrhein-Westfalen e. V. veranstaltet. The aim is to promote collaboration between research, practice, and teaching. The conference will take place in the RWTH SuperC.
The lecture focuses are the developments in the quality and logistics of road construction, innovations, tunnel features and operation, special solutions in workplaces, shift effects in grids, and policies and processes. A panel discussion on "Financing Transport Infrustracture in the Time of Empty Wallets" will round out the event. "Germany is the leading economic power in the European Union, exhibits the highest demand for mobility, and has been suffering for many years from a greatly neglected and under financed road transport infrastructure without sufficient capacity," says Professor Dr.-Ing. Markus Oeser from the RWTH Chair of Pavement Engineering. Questions during the discussion will include: What measures and funds are required to counteract the advancing deterioration? How long can we live like this? How can we suspend the loss of function that is setting in? Experts from administration, construction, science, and professional associations will identify deficits and draft solutions.
The conference is the framework for the awarding of a prize for outstanding Master's theses at the Chair of Pavement Engineering. Institutions and companies will also be presenting at the accompanying exhibition.
Participation is free of charge. However, registration is requested.
