RWTH Researchers Among the Most Highly Cited Scholars
The recently published international citation ranking "Highly Cited Researchers 2015“ lists scientists who have great influence worldwide in their field of research. For the first time, six RWTH scientists are represented in the annual publication: The 2015 analysis report lists professors Carsten Bolm, Dieter Enders, Ralph Panstruga, Magnus Rueping, Björn Usadel, and Rainer Waser.
The ranking, published by the Thomson Reuters media group, was created based on the citation database “Web of Science." The ranking identified more than 3,000 researchers worldwide who are in the top one percent of most cited researchers and are thus, according to Thomson Reuters, "among the most influential researchers of our time.”
The basis for inclusion in the list is how often a scientist's publications are cited by other researchers. This parameter indicates the relevance and importance of the cited researcher's work. Publications from 2003 to 2013 formed the foundation of this year's ranking. Scholarly articles from a total of 21 subject areas were evaluated.
Bolm, Enders, and Rueping head the Chairs of Organic Chemistry I to III, Panstruga the Unit of Plant Molecular Cell Biology, Usadel the Institute for Biology I, and Waser the Electronic Materials Research Lab.
