Our Profile

Are you interested in robotics, professional 3D simulation technology, virtual reality, computer graphics, and control engineering for the realization of comprehensive Digital Twins and innovative Industry 4.0 applications?

You would like to develop your knowledge not only in theoretical areas, but also apply it practically in exciting scenarios – from space robotics to industrial applications to current environmental scenarios – and realize your own ideas in a professional software infrastructure from "virtual testbed" to IoT platform? Then you have come to the right place, the Institute for Man-Machine Interaction at RWTH Aachen university!

The Institute for Man-Machine Interaction (MMI, is a nationally and internationally very active and successful research institution as part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of RWTH Aachen University. MMI specializes in analyzing, modelling, simulating, and controlling complex systems in their operational environments, in connecting humans, devices and machines, and in realizing intelligent systems. MMI’s innovative Digital Twins revolutionize the development process and the operation of (not only) robotic systems and are the basis for the convergence of virtual and real worlds. The application areas span various industries and disciplines ranging from space robotics, robot manipulators, mobile robots, and road vehicles up to agricultural, forestry, and construction machines.

Your Profile

We seek for a candidate having a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics with above-average success who likes to work on challenging topics in a research-oriented manner.
