Our Profile

Teaching and Research Area Mechatronics in Mobile Propulsion (MMP) lies in an area of tension between mechanical and electrical drive components as well as control algorithms for embedded systems. The focus of our scientific work is on component, system developments and research that supports the development process of novel propulsion systems. Our goal at MMP is to enable environmentally and climate-friendly, sustainable and demand-driven mobility. We want to utilize and expand the advantages of mobility, but also reduce the use of resources and emissions.

Your Profile

  • Completed university studies (Master's degree or comparable) in the field of mechatronics, electrical engineering, automation technology or similar
  • Good knowledge of the functioning of electric motors and the associated control procedures
  • Basic knowledge of the functioning of electrified powertrains
  • Experience in using simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, MotorCAD, Ansys Maxwell etc.)
  • Experience with RCP systems, such as dSpace MABX and the accessible tool chain
  • "Hands-on" experience with the operation of test benches is helpful
  • You have a strong team orientation
  • High sense of responsibility, very good analytical skills and good communication skills
  • Systematic approach to work and high willingness to work interdisciplinary
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
  • Curiosity about engineering and technical challenges
  • Interest in the challenges of electric drive technology and a high affinity for e-mobility
  • Enjoyment of general teaching and working in an interdisciplinary research group

Your Duties and Responsibilities

You are part of a dynamic team of highly motivated researchers who are "burning" to make mobility more sustainable and to bring innovations into application. You research novel approaches to increase the efficiency of electrical machines, such as active thermal field weakening. To acompish this goal, you will work simulation-based to estimate potential, carry out electromagnetic designs of machine concepts and supervise experimental work in the Centre for Mobile Propulsion (CMP). You work on the interactions between component design, overall drive design and the interaction with predictive driving algorithms together with your colleagues in the team, focusing on the electric motor component without losing sight of the overall system. Through exciting cooperation projects with industrial partners, you will broaden your horizons and get to know another facet besides the academic world. You collaborate in teaching and publish your results at professional conferences and in recognised journals with scientific quality assurance.

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of one year.
It is intended to extend the contract initial contract period up to four years.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position with the possibility of a part-time contract upon request.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
