Our Profile

Teaching and Research Area Mechatronics in Mobile Propulsion (MMP) lies in an area of tension between mechanical and electrical drive components as well as control algorithms for embedded systems. The focus of our scientific work is on component, system developments and research that supports the development process of novel propulsion systems. Our goal at MMP is to enable environmentally and climate-friendly, sustainable and demand-driven mobility. We want to utilize and expand the advantages of mobility, but also reduce the use of resources and emissions.

 

Your Profile

  • Completed university studies (Master's degree or comparable) in the field of automotive engineering, enegy engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, automation engineering or similar.
  • Very good analytical and conceptual skills as well as a structured way of working
  • Confident command of the German and English languages, both written and spoken
  • Initial experience in modeling complex technical systems and corresponding simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Interest in mathematical as well as data-driven optimization approaches (artificial intelligence)
  • Basic knowledge in the field of powertrains as well as energy and battery systems
  • Curiosity about engineering and technical issues
  • A strong team orientation
  • High degree of independence, commitment, initiative and ability to work under pressure

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the implementation and management of work packages in publicly funded research projects
  • Together with a European consortium consisting of renowned research institutions, automotive manufacturers and suppliers as well as companies from the energy sector, you will research and develop future charging concepts from the initial idea to a feasible overall concept
  • You will model energy systems related to the charging of electric vehicles in a simulation environment
  • You will develop and evaluate holistic intelligent charging concepts for electric vehicles (smart charging, vehicle-to-grid), taking into account the effects on energy storage and energy networks
  • You will test your ideas on a demonstrator
  • You will share your findings with experts at international congresses and conferences, as well as in scientific journals.
  • As part of your teaching activities, you will transfer results from research into teaching and thus enable students to study in a practice-oriented manner.

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of one year.
It is intended to extend the contract initial contract period up to four years.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a full-time position with the possibility of a part-time contract upon request.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
