Event of FESTA EU Project at RWTH Aachen
The institutions involved in the EU project FESTA, short for Female Empowerment in Science and Technology Academia, met in Aachen for their event from March 7 to 9, 2016.
The goal of the project, which runs from 2012 to 2017, is foster female scientists in the natural sciences and technology through the development and testing of measures that promote equality and participation in academia. Since the project began, project meeting have been held every six months in the cities of the participating universities.
The Integration Team welcomed the 30 project partners from Uppsala University in Sweden, South-West University in Bulgaria, University of Southern Denmark in Denmark, Istanbul Teknik Universitesi in Turkey, the University of Limerick in Ireland, and Fondazione Bruno Kessler in Italy, at the RWTH Guest House. Among other topics the participants discussed the progress and results of the seven project fields or work packages in a comfortable and productive atmosphere. Aside from this intensive professional exchange the event also served to prepare the project's conclusion together and to organize conferences resulting from the project. The European guests used Dr. Margrethe Schmeer's, the first female mayor of Aachen, presence to learn more about the city, its history, and the University.
