RWTH Scores in CHE Ranking 2016

04/05/2016

Just as in previous years, the current university studies guide published in the German weekly newspaper "Die Zeit" confirms RWTH's excellent performance in research and teaching.

The publication, which is specifically targeted at prospective university students, seeks to provide assistance with choosing the right course of study and the right university. Die Zeit has commissioned CHE, the Centre for Higher Education, with creating the ranking, which has analyzed German-language universities and ranked the disciplines taught at each institution in the top, mid-level, and bottom group.

The current issue presents the results in the fields of architecture, biology, chemistry, civil engineering, English studies, electrical engineering and information technology, environmental engineering, German studies, materials science, mechanical engineering, and psychology. 13 subjects are placed in the top group; no subject is ranked in the bottom group.

Positive Student Experience

The Aachen University of Excellence does not only succeed based on research reputation, which turns out to be strong in almost all subject areas, but also scores particularly high on students evaluations. Many RWTH courses of study achieve very good ratings not least due to the fact that students obtain their degree in a reasonable period of study, which applies in particular to the degree programs in architecture, biology, and German studies, where students complete their studies earlier than at other universities.

Students in mechanical engineering are particularly pleased with their studies at RWTH, based on the scope of courses on offer, technical equipment and facilities, and the support students receive during their studies.

The results of the chemistry course of study at RWTH are also outstanding: in the ranking, which is based on newly developed criteria, the Aachen researchers achieve the highest grade with respect to the teaching of technical and methodological competencies. Furthermore, the students are very positive about the student experience as well as general organizational matters.
