TANDEMplus: Supporting Women to Attain Leadership Positions
The TANDEMplus mentoring program supports highly qualified women in engineering or the natural sciences on their way towards attaining a leadership position in business or academia. In a festive event, those involved in the program celebrated the conclusion of the successful six-year collaborative project, which was jointly conducted by RWTH Aachen University, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT, and Forschungszentrum Jülich. Furthermore, the event marked the beginning of a new phase of TANDEMplus: the program will be continued for another three years by partners RWTH Aachen and Forschungszentrum Jülich, as part of the Jülich-Aachen Research Alliance JARA.
Before TANDEMplus coordinator Dr. Daniela Wilmes opened the official event, current and past program participants had the chance to attend workshops on “Networking” and “Countering Smartly.”
Subsequently, RWTH rector Ernst Schmachtenberg, Professor Wolfgang Marquardt, Chairman of the Board of Forschungszentrum Jülich, and Simone Belgardt from KIT delivered welcome addresses and presented the participants of the current program round with their certificates.
In the further course of the event, the participants introduced themselves and their area of expertise, and Professor Doris Klee, RWTH Vice-Rector for Human Resources Management and Development, gave a presentation on equal-opportunities staff development.
Gitta Doebert, deputy head of the Gender and Diversity Management staff unit, IGaD, summarized the project’s success and named a number of past participants who achieved their goal of becoming tenured professors.
The event was concluded with a discussion on “Ways to a Professorship – Personal Views and Evaluations.”
