EU Projects
Horizon Europe
The current European Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe (2021 to 2027) is the further developed version of its predecessor Horizon 2020. With a total budget of around EUR 95.5 billion, it forms the basis of European research funding. The current three-part pillar structure will be retained and adapted in a targeted manner: Pillar 1 - Excellent Science, Pillar 2 - Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, and Pillar 3 - Innovative Europe. The European Innovation Council now has specific missions, in which targeted projects are bundled together to solve urgent issues.
Horizon 2020
The framework program for research and innovation, "Horizon 2020" (2014 to 2020), bundled together the EU programs for research and innovation funding. With an interdisciplinary approach, it took the entire innovation cycle into account and promoted collaboration and the exchange of ideas. One central objective of the framework program was to contribute to closing the gap between research and the market, thus strengthening European competitiveness and simultaneously promoting solutions to societal challenges. The projects are intended to contribute to this goal.
European Institute of Innovation and Technology – EIT
Founded in 2007, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, EIT for short, is intended to ensure Europe's ability to initiate sustainable economic growth by promoting innovations. The mission is to create synergies between education, research, and innovation and to promote the systematic creation of regional clusters and international networks of top-level institutes, universities, and industrial research centers. The Co-Location Centers, or CLC, are regionally-rooted centers for collaboration between members of Knowledge and Innovation Communities, KICs.
