International Aerospace Conference at RWTH
Under the motto "Wireless for Space and Extreme Environments" the international IEEE Conference will be held September 26 to 29, at the RWTH ICT Cubes, Kopernikusstraße 16 in Aachen. The conference is being organized by the RWTH Aachen Institute for Theoretical Information Technology.
Dr. Gholamreza Alirezaei is the director of the conference and taken the lead in ensuring that scientists from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA for short, the Canadian Space Agency, CSA for short, and the European Space Agency, ESA for short, and other professionals from the aeronautics industry and research come together to discuss problems in wireless sensor technology and communication in space and under extreme environmental conditions on celestial bodies.
The challenges of wireless sensor networks for communication on planet surfaces and in spacecrafts or space stations are diverse and usually cannot be compared with terrestrial situations. Places with extreme heat or cold and different air pressure conditions, nuclear power plants, or oil and gas platforms are just a few examples of such extreme conditions. Even when specific challenges regarding radio frequency, optical sensors, and communication technology vary greatly from environment to environment, the targeted solutions in the field of data transmission and signal processing technology can be used by aerospace researchers to better understand the problems in space.
Focuses of the conference include network architectures, data management, integrated vehicle systems and robotics, optical communication systems, and cognitive radio networks.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE, is the largest technical professional association worldwide in the field of electrical engineering and information technology. It sponsors more than 1600 international conferences and workshops annually, publishes various professional journals, and is involved in the program development of numerous fairs, workshops, and other professional events.
