How Can You Protect Your Privacy in the Cloud?
RWTH student receives Consumer Research Young Talent Award 2016.
In his Bachelor’s Thesis, titled “Making Individual Cloud Usage of Smartphone Users Transparent,” David Hellmans describes how functions of cloud services can be made transparent with the help of an app.
Hellmans, a graduate from the Chair of Computer Science 4 – Communication and Distributed Systems at RWTH Aachen, presents a solution on how the privacy of users of external data storage services can be better protected.
At the 2016 International Conference on Consumer Research, ICCR, NRW Science Minister Svenja Schulze, NRW Consumer Protection Minister Johannes Remmel, and Wolfgang Schuldzinski, Board member of the NRW Consumer Advice Center, presented Hellmans with the award, which is worth 2000 Euros.
The award is annually presented by the NRW Consumer Research Competence Center in recognition of outstanding final theses on topics with high relevance for consumers.
Further awards were presented to Anika Cerkowniak from the University of Siegen and Anne Diers from Münster University of Applied Sciences.
