First-Year Student Information Day at RWTH
Approximately 2,000 school students got a practical look at twelve career fields during the info day at Kármán Auditorium.
School students in grades eight to ten from all schools came with their teachers to take the opportunity to learn about careers in architecture, engineering, the natural sciences, IT, education, and many more. The school students were also able to participate in many hands-on activities, including a rally, different workshops, and games. Those who were participated particularly strongly spoke with instructors and students to clear up their questions. The supplemental offer of tours through the institutes and vocational training centers at RWTH were also very well received. The lectures, in which presentations about career fields and career paths at a university were given, were filled.
The 2016 First-Year Student Information Day was held for the second time as an officially recognized alternative to career field orientation as part of the State's initiative No Graduation Without Continuation, KAoA for short. The objective of the event is for school students to independently become familiar with a career field and the related career paths at RWTH Aachen and to get a practical look at this career field.
This central offers meets the demand for career field orientation of the entire university. This offer makes it possible for institutes not to have to organize their own offers and to ease their workload.
The next First-Year Student Information Day will be held during the 2017/2018 school year.
