RWTH Hosts Guest Lecture on Food Security
RWTH Aachen University hosts a public guest lecture on food security.
By the year 2050, world population will have grown to almost 10 billion people. Today already, around a billion people are chronically mal- or undernourished. Therefore, it seems urgently necessary to increase food production output. At the same time, efforts are on the rise worldwide to cultivate sustainable raw materials, for instance for the production of chemicals, materials or fuels, in order to be able to substitute fossil raw materials.
How can we supply a growing world population with high-quality food and yet establish a sustainable production of goods on the basis of biological ressources?
The lecture "Food security for a growing world population" given by Professor Ulrich Schurr, head of the institute for plant sciences at Forschungszentrum Jülich, takes place on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 6:30pm in lecture hall HKW 2 at Wüllnerstraße 1.
Admission is free and registration is not necessary.
