Joe Bausch is the most widely known prison doctor in Germany. Since 1986, he has been working as a forensic physician the Werl correctional facility. While in real life, Bausch is concerned with the well-being of the living, in his role as Dr. Joseph Roth he typically examines corpses to determine their causes of death.
Bausch studied theater sciences, German studies, and law in Cologne and Marburg; subsequently, he went to the University of Bochum to study medicine. Bausch, who is bald and mustachioed, is visually striking – a man of many faces, and also a man of many stories.
On Thursday, November 3, he will come to Aachen to tell about his experience as a prison doctor and Tatort actor. In particular, he will reflect on “What turns people into criminals” and answer questions from the audience. The event is scheduled to take place at 6pm in the Aula of the RWTH Main Building. Entrance is free of charge.
