Learning Strategies (for international students)

Erläuterung

This seminar addresses students of RWTH Aachen University. As a doctoral candidate, please apply for the ExAcT course "Academic Teaching".

Please note that this student training takes place online via Zoom to make participation as easy as possible for you. Accordingly, a laptop/PC with an internet connection, loudspeakers and a microphone are required.

Everyone likes learning success. At best in the form of an exam with a very good grade, but also in terms of completing tasks on time when preparing for a test and consequently, a positive gut feeling. But stop! How and where to best start? When is a good time to outwit your weaker self? And which strategies might be useful to learn effectively?

The student training "Learning Strategies" deals with various learning activities and their individual, discipline-specific implementation. In practical work units (also based on your personal content and case studies), we will work out together how learning can be productive, whether alone, with a co-worker or in a learning group. Dealing with failure is also discussed in this context. However, the focus of the training is to plan and practice effective ways of learning and to stay motivated by actively using methods that work beyond the exam date and thus create added value for students in the long run.

The training takes place in 3 units of 2 hours each. It is necessary that you are present at all 3 appointments. Therefore, please check in advance whether all time slots are suitable for you.

The seminar is open to all students of RWTH Aachen University. It is also offered in German.
