Methods
The focus of the meetings is on stimulating interactive communication and developing confident language usage through regular group work, discussions and individual presentations. These participant-centred learning strategies will be supplemented by teacher-centred training, handouts and exercises. Throughout the course duration, participants will be encouraged to develop adequate self-learning strategies independent of course meetings.
Content
The purpose of this course is to prepare CDS members for professional communication and effective presentation at international conferences. After a needs analysis, participants will learn how to:

structure their presentation coherently
-
express their opinion concisely and persuasively
-
pronounce words correctly
-
present visuals
-
handle questions
-
chair and moderate discussions
-
network successfully
By taking part in role plays and presenting at least once during the course of the semester, participants will gain more confidence in speaking English in an academic context and improve their delivery in general.
On completion of the seminar, participants will have:

Learned useful phrasings and vocabulary for conference settings

Improved their presentation skills, pronunciation and delivery

Developed more confidence in their spoken English when presenting at international conferences
Successful completion of this course is based on:
