Objective

The online course introduces the participants to important aspects of good scientific practice (GSP) and misconduct in research using case studies of problematic everyday experience of early career researchers. They will learn the relevant statements of GSP regulations and what they can do if they encounter scientific misconduct.

Methods

The online course features input, individual work session, question rounds and discussions. Case studies and documents for further studies are presented.

Content

The content of the course follows the curriculum “Good scientific practice” which was commissioned by and developed in cooperation with the German Research Ombudsman:

  • Good scientific practice

  • Scientific misconduct

  • Examples from the process of science: data management and authorship

  • Dealing with scientific misconduct

  • Local, national and international GSP regulations

Participation Requirements

Technical requirements:

PC/Laptop, microphone, camera, loudspeakers/headset, internet connection.

Target Audience

doctoral candidates, who are registered in the Center for Doctoral Studies.
