Description

This workshop series offers a year-long support for the career path and the management of a postdoc's daily work. A postdoc often embodies several roles such as supervisor, teacher, researcher and networker. Managing these different roles with excellent communication and leadership skills as well as generating a network for the next career step is focus of this workshop series.

Participants are welcome to apply for one or for all workshop days depending on their preferred topic.

Workshop 1: Leadership Skills

Workshop 2: Communication with Superviors / critical situations

Workshop 3: Team Communication / Conflictual Situations

Workshop 4: Body Language + Voice, Positioning myself

Objective

The goal is

  • to support daily workflow

  • to manage team work and give supervision in an effective and dynamic way

  • to communicate and lead in an effective and constructive way

Methods

These workshops consist of both group discussions and artsbased processes. The latter is an approach of dealing with a question or a challenge through artful play, art making or improvisation. The benefit of enriching cognitive discussion with physical, improvisational experiences are mannifold: The challenge, which is often rooted in behavior and personality becomes tangible. That means, cognitive understanding is enriched with emotional intelligence. A solution that appears out of such a holistic coaching process is often new, creative and perfectly fitting the situation. The coachee's range of play and range of action widenes and expands. New tools become available. Artsbased processes can be visualisations, movement patterns, rhythmical und musical elements, theatre and poetry. No previous experience is required. Rather an open mind and the willingness to try out something new is welcomed.

Measures to secure the sustainable Transfer of Taught Knowledge / Skills

Through experience-based learning the transfer to real-life situations is given. Since the participants' range of action is broadened through artsbased processes and group discussions, the newly acquired skills can be tranferred to daily work situations. This workshop series is designed as a long-term support. Thus, challenges can be turned into solutions over this long period of time.
