Description
As a scientist at a university, you are no longer exclusively a researcher and teacher, and as an employee in technology and administration, you are no longer bound only to your professional tasks, because the tasks related to science management are taking up more and more space. Your leadership function is of particular importance here. In the university environment, you as a manager need a special sensitivity in order to do justice to the important basic values of individual autonomy, freedom and diversity of opinion on the one hand, and on the other hand to fulfill your responsibility for a project, an institute or generally for employees and work processes.
In this seminar you will work intensively on your individual leadership competence. The first step is to focus on yourself and your resources and ideas for fulfilling your leadership role - because good leadership requires above all self-reflection. In the second step, we will work on the application of important leadership tools in your everyday leadership.
Objective
-
You have a picture of how you want to act as a leader: You know your own personal resources and areas of development and have reflected on your leadership role in individual and collegial group work.
-
You know the basic tools of leadership: formulating leadership goals, making decisions, leadership communication, role model function and have practically tested and reflected on these tools.
-
You are familiar with the leadership tools implemented at RWTH Aachen University and know which understanding of leadership and which leadership standards apply at RWTH.
-
You have reflected and tested the appropriate handling of classic leadership situations and typical reactions (your own and those of your employees).
-
You have worked on your specific leadership concerns and take options for action with you into everyday leadership.
-
You know who your contacts at RWTH Aachen University are who can support you with specific leadership concerns.
