Research data are the basics and outcome of scientific work. An aware and sustained handling of research data improves the effectivity of research and is an integral part of good scientific practice.

Based on the life cycle of research data, the course provides a brief introduction to the concepts of research data management (RDM) and an overview of the services and infrastructure offered by RWTH Aachen University which have been designed to assist you in dealing with the challenges around your RDM. Afterwards you will have a greater understanding of these challenges and get an idea on how to properly tackle them.

The content can be worked on alone or can be combined with the "Workshop zum Management von Forschungsdaten (FDM II)" to gain a more detailed insight into the subject of RDM. In the workshop, the content will be deepened by discussions and hands-on experience on RDM tools.
The content of this online course correspond to the face-to-face seminar "Research Data Management - an Overview" and is required for the „Workshop zum Management von Forschungsdaten (FDM II)“.
After registration, you will receive access to the learning room (RWTH moodle) within 3 working days. Afterwards you have 12 months’ time to attend the course room.
You can request a certificate of attendance for this course if you have completed 80% of the materials and passed the final exam with at least 50%.
