The foundation for excellent research are exceptional scientists; and in order to win the best minds for RWTH Aachen University, Forschungszentrum Jülich and with that also for JARA, the online seminar "Career opportunities at research groupings" was offered November 17, 2016 as part of the GAIN network.

This opportunity allowed the researchers who joined in to find out more about the characteristic features of working at research groupings. Next to basic information regarding JARA and its partner facilities, the speakers Andrea Bosten from Forschungszentrum Jülich, as well as Elke Breuer-Schulte and Barbara Schray from RWTH Aachen offered valuable insights into career paths, opportunities for cooperation and service offers.

Special highlight of the online seminar moderated by GAIN program director Dr. Gerrit Rößler was the report given by Professor Hendrik Bluhm from the chair of Experimental Physics at RWTH and JARA Institute Quantum Information, who, having been a USA returnee himself, shared his personal experiences.

The online seminar showed in a very factbased and descriptive manner why a strategic partnership between university and non-university research facilities can be of great advantage to researchers, while at the same time particularly highlighting the attraction of a career in the JARA grouping.
