Informatics in the Insurance Sector

Christoph Schmallenbach, Chairman of the Management Board of AachenMünchener Versicherung AG, will talk on information technology challenges and solutions in the insurance sector.

According to Christoph Schmallenbach, the insurance business has entered a new dimension. IT is no longer just a basis for applications serving to increase productivity, but also enables new business models and unprecedented services. On February 8, 2017, at 5pm, Schmallenbach will present his ideas at an event in the Generali Hall, Super C, Templergraben 57.

His talk is titled "From Folders to Smart Insurances: Informatics Challenges in the Insurance Sector" and highlights today’s developments in IT was well as the novel demands placed on IT systems and applications.

Schmallenbach will discuss chances and advances, but also failures and possible risks, both of existing and future business applications. How are the business models of insurance companies changing, what are the new products and services? How do digital change and developments in information technology impact on IT infrastructures, and what skills are required to exploit new informatics solutions?

Chistoph Schmallenbach has studied computer science at RWTH Aachen University. Since, 2015, the software engineer has been Chair of the Board at AachenMünchener. The event is jointly hosted by the RWTH Department of Computer Science, the Aachen Group of the German Informatics Society RIA, the REGINA Computer Club, and DHV, the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers.
