RWTH Achieves Top Results in University Rankings by Subject
In this year's QS World University Rankings, one of the most recognized university rankings worldwide, RWTH Aachen features among the world's top institutions in 22 of the 46 subjects featured.
Since 2011, the best universities worldwide are determined based on the opinion of thousands of researchers and employers, together with the analysis of millions of research papers and citations. RWTH Aachen has achieved strong results and ranks among the top-listed programs worldwide in 22 academic disciplines.
Aside from academic disciplines, five discipline groupings were ranked as well: arts & humanities, engineering & technology, life sciences & medicine, natural sciences, and social sciences & management. In all subject areas, RWTH Aachen was able to improve its performance compared to last year: Social sciences & management climbed 69 spots and is now ranked 169th; engineering & technology and natural sciences both climbed 20 spots and are now ranked 33rd and 26th, respectively.
The arts & humanities are now ranked 229th, rising 16 spots from last year, while life sciences and medicine improved by 15 spots, coming in 139th.
The best-performing RWTH subject was minerals and mining, placed in 12th position. Education and Linguistics also improved their performance and are among the top 150 programs worldwide.
Nationally, 13 disciplines at RWTH Aachen achieved top 3 positions.
Five disciplines earned No. 1 rankings nationally:chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, materials engineering, and statistics and operational research.
