„All means all – ‚Schwere Mehrfachbehinderung‘ und Inklusion in der Schule“

A talk given by Professor Andreas Hinz, Emeritus, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, on April 20, 2021.

The lecture will highlight the existing tension in the area of school inclusion between the demands on the one hand and social barriers on the other. Experiences gathered in the 1970s to 1990s on integrative model experiments will be presented.

Andreas Hinz is a former professor of general rehabilitation and inclusive education at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

„Inklusion von Schüler*innen mit Beeinträchtigungen im schulischen Lernen – eine Herausforderung insbesondere während des Lockdown“

A talk held in German by Professor Dr. Birgit Lütje-Klose, Dr. Sabine Geist, and Dr. Janka Goldan, Bielefeld University and Laborschule Bielefeld, on May 4, 2021.

Children and teenagers identified as learning disabled make up the largest group of students in need of special education measures. They often grow up in socially disadvantaged families under adverse living conditions. They have problems with action planning, work organization, prior knowledge, and memory as well as the development of basic (written) language and mathematical skills. This talk will look at the different developmental conditions as well as possible support measures. Experiences with special needs support in inclusive education during the Coronavirus pandemic at Laborschule Bielefeld will also be discussed.

Sabine Geist is a teacher and the didactic director at Laborschule Bielefeld, Janka Goldan works as a special needs teacher and academic councilor at Bielefeld University. Birgit Lütje-Klose is professor for school inclusion and special education professionalism at Bielefeld University.

„Digitales Musizieren von Jugendlichen mit komplexen Behinderungen – Potenziale und Herausforderungen für inklusionsorientierten Musikunterricht“

A lecture held in German by Professor Dr. Imke Niediek, Leibniz Universität Hannover, on June 15, 2021.

Can digitalization help individuals with severe disabilities participate better in cultural education? The "be_smart" research project investigates the subjective experiences of young people with severe disabilities as they use digital music media. The talk will also explore the potential that music educators see in digital musical instruments for their work. The speaker will further show that music education does not have an "inclusion potential" per se but that problems of inclusive education are reproduced.

Imke Niediek is a professor of education focusing on intellectual and developmental disabilities at Leibniz Universität Hannover.
