Hitler's "Mein Kampf" – A Critical Edition

31/05/2017

On Thursday, June 8, 2017, the historian Dr. Roman Töppel will give a talk on “Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’ – A Critical Edition.” The talk is scheduled to start at 7pm in Lecture Hall H01, C.A.R.L., Claßenstraße 11.

The Institute of Contemporary History IfZ published the annotated version of the book, which is accompanied by extensive critical comments, in 2016. A team of historians, including Dr. Roman Töppel, prepared the edition over a period of several years.

The publication centers around the following questions: How did Hitler’s theses originate, what were his main intentions, and how did his ideology contribute to shaping the National Socialist regime’s politics? And, centrally: how can we counter Hitler’s countless assertions, lies, and statements of intention based on today’s knowledge? In view of the symbolic value the book has even today, its demystification provides a contribution to historical and political clarification and enlightenment.

The event and subsequent discussion is hosted by the RWTH Institute of the History, Theory, and Ethics of Medicine (de) in collbaboration with the RWTHextern Citizens’ Forum.

Admission to the event is free of charge; registration is not required.
