Online course "Cultural Heritage in Transformation”
The collaborative research field Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Architecture has developed a course for the e-learning platform edX. The course shows how cultural heritage can be defined, explored, conserved and used for spatial and urban development. Designed as a Massive Open Online Course, MOOC for short, the course illustrates and explores different disciplinary and thematic approaches to cultural heritage using the city of Aachen as an example.
Seminar "CoFilms"Copyright: © Lehrstuhl für Landschaftsarchitektur
CoFilms is short for "co-produced films" and refers to the collaboration of lecturers and students in the production of teaching/explanatory videos. In seminar and supervision sessions, students and lecturers use the medium of video to jointly turn complex research content into easy-to-understand narratives. The videos created by the students are in turn made available to other students and interested parties.
Online Course "GIS-Box"
The online course teaches students how to use geographic information systems, GIS for short, software to search for, visualize and analyze spatial data.
It consists of four modules and is aimed at students in the master programs of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Transforming City Regions as well as Bachelor of Geography.

The project "Reiff Hack" encompasses the conception, compilation, editorial supervision and sharing of short practical films, so-called life hacks, on topics relevant in the everyday study life of architecture students. The Department of Visual Arts, in cooperation with the team of Media for Learning, MfL for short, of the RWTH, produces practical videos from various workshops of the faculty in conjunction with students.
Jupyter Notebook "BIM Programming"
Using the Jupyter cluster of the RWTH, all architecture students in their 4th bachelor semester are introduced to programming and data modeling of building information models, BIM for short, with Python. Specially developed interactive 3D model viewers for buildings, visual data graphs of information models and numerous helper functions have been developed to support the students.
