Description
Target group:
Participants who are starting to work on their thesis - or who have been starting in between the last 12 - 15 months. The Workshops on Time Management are not sequential - each Workshop is designed for the specifically described group of participants.
Doctoral life is all about self-motivation and managing your time. The keys to completing the dissertation promptly are organization and self management. But personalities and dissertation projects are different – therefore we will focus on the development of individual strategies that fit your project and your way of handling time.
Objective
Participants are able to

set priorities (not only for the work on their thesis

set obtainable goals and describe accomplishable tasks

plan the next months of their thesis and research work methodically.
Methods
We will focus on practicing various approaches and methods – this means, that as a participant you should be up to discuss your ideas with others and to receive and provide feedback.
Content
Apart from providing various tools for project planning and time management the seminar deals with work-life-balance as an essential for successful work.
You will

identify and make available personal strengths and methods by reflecting your “time personality”

define targets, key tasks and appropriate timeframes

learn methods to separate and organize tasks and monitor the progress of your work - for your thesis, presentations, meetings, goal-oriented discussions etc.

get to know your individual way to achieve a good work-life-balance and how to cope with stress

develop your own project plans and receive feedback
Participation Requirements
Participation:

To participate you need a laptop or computer with audio / video function (microphone and camera). You also need a stable internet connection.

You will receive an individual login code for the moodle course room for the workshop on 5 days before the preparation period latest
-
Preparation phase - prerequisite for participation: approx. 2 hours, on your own time: in the moodle course room you will find materials and tasks to prepare. If necessary, these tasks are supervised by the trainer.

On the online attendance date, we will work together on interactive learning situations from 9:00 am to around 1:30 pm (short breaks)

Transfer phase: approx. 2 hours, on your own time: in the moodle course room you will receive feedback, can ask further questions and exchange ideas with the trainer and the other participants.
