Description
In cooperation with the Language Center, the RWTH Doctoral Academy offers visiting reseachers high-quality German classes at all levels during their stay. You may register for all German courses of the Semester Course Program. If you have had previous knowledge in German, you need to take a placement test. Dates for the placement test can be found under Dates & Deadlines. There you can also learn more about registration procedures.

German Course Funding for RWTH Doctoral Academy Members
The courses of the Semester Program are fee-based.
However, as member of the RWTH Doctoral Academy you may be eligible for a refund of up to 200 € upon completing* your course.
If you want to benefit from the CDS funding, please proceed the following steps:

Starting September 30th, 2022, at 10.00 am, you can apply for course funding under the following link (see link at the bottom of this page). You will be notified by the Doctoral Academy regarding your funding before registration starts at the Language Center.

Follow the registration and payment procedure mentioned on the Language Center’s Website.

Refund: If you register for the German Course Funding for RWTH Doctoral Academy Members, you may be eligible for a refund of up to 200 € upon completing1 your course. Please fill the form, which you find in the CDS-Participation Portal (with RWTH ID or without RWTH ID) under "Documents” and send it together with a copy of the Certificate of Participation (you will get it from the Language Center) and with the Confirmation of the bank transfer about the course fee to the Doctoral Academy (doctoralacademy@rwth-aachen.de). After this, we will transfer the money to your bank account.
*The passing of the exam is not a prerequisite for the refunding. You are allowed to miss a certain number of classes during the semester. That means:
2 SWS-Courses: max. 4 hours (à 45 minutes)
4 SWS-Courses: max. 8 hours (à 45 minutes)
8 SWS-Courses: max. 16 hours (à 45 minutes)
