The Economic Benefits of Standardization

06/10/2017

RWTH Aachen University is to host a conference on the occasion of World Standards Day.

On World Standards Day, which is celebrated internationally each year on October 14, the members of WSC, the World Standards Cooperation, honor the important work of standardization experts around the world. Standards are important economic factors, as they accelerate technology transfer from development to market introduction and facilitate the compatibility of products and services. RWTH Aachen also benefits from the institution’s activities, as many University departments develop tailored technological solutions for modern life and work.

On the occasion of World Standards Day, the University’s Center of Patents and Standards, in collaboration with the German Institute for Standardization, DIN, has organized a conference on “Standardization and Technical Standards at RWTH,” scheduled to take place October 18, 2017, between 1 and 5pm.

The conference highlights the role of standardization in research and development, focusing on the basis for standardization, the research process, and the administration of standards. Speakers include Dr. Albert Hövel, DIN; Heidi Keller, Center of Patents and Standards; and Dr. Philipp Jussen, FIR Institute for Industrial Management.

The conference is targeted at researchers and students at RWTH Aachen; interested entrepreneurs, founders, and representatives from companies are invited to attend as well. The conference language is German; and a program is available for download.

Attendance is free of charge; to register, please call +49 241 80 94481 or send an to the Center of Patents and Standards. Location: SuperC, Templergraben 57.
