Smart Mining: Industry 4.0 for the Raw Materials Sector

Conference at RWTH Aachen University on opportunities and risks in the materials sector

 

After the successful 2015 premiere with over 120 participants from the raw materials sector, the 2nd Forum Bergbau 4.0 will be held on November 14 and November 15, 2017, at the Tivoli conference venue in Aachen.

Under the heading of Industry 4.0, the federal government, in collaboration with research institutions, trade unions, and economics associations, are in the process of developing a “High-Tech Strategy” which seeks to couple industrial production processes with state-of-the-art information and communication technologies.

Forum Bergbau 4.0, the Smart Mining conference, will present and discuss strategic considerations, implementation possibilities, and opportunities and risks for the raw materials sector. This year’s keynote speaker will be Erich Schnake, Vice-Minister of Mining of the Republic of Chile.

The forum is hosted by the Institute for Advanced Mining Technologies at RWTH Aachen University in collaboration with DMT GmbH & Co. KG and VDMA Mining.
