Physics and Music – From Garden Hose to Trombone
As part of the series "At the Focus – Understanding Physics!," RWTHextern is delighted to host the lecture "Physics and Music – From Garden Hose to Trombone."
This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11am, in lecture hall H03 at the C.A.R.L. lecture hall complex, Claßenstraße 11, Aachen. Speaker Professor Jörg Pretz from the RWTH Physics Institute III B and the Forschungszentrum Jülich Nuclear Physics Institute will examine the following questions: Where do sounds originate? Why can we only produce certain sounds with a garden hose? What has this got to do with a trombone? What is an auditory illusion? After the lecture, the experiments shown may be tested by the audience themselves. A brass ensemble will furthermore offer the appropriate context for the event.
