The Excellence university is awarding 485 Germany Scholarships to the best minds of tomorrow, while supporting their exchange and networking with sponsors.
RWTH Aachen remains one of the biggest scholarship provider in Germany: in the upcoming funding year it is awarding 485 students with the Germany Scholarship to help them fund their studies. The RWTH Education Fund, the University's central scholarship program, offers not only financial support but also ideal offers to network students with their sponsors. The University established the fund in winter semester 2009/2010 as a central scholarship program and has enjoyed great popularity among students since then.
The University acquired approximately one million euros from private sponsors for its scholarship program. This amount is matched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Furthermore, 15 Henry Ford Scholarships are also available during the funding period. "This allows us to support 500 students," emphasized Rector Ernst Schmachtenberg. On Friday, December 1, 2017, he will award the scholarships together with the sponsors to the students.
The Germany Scholarship
The program funding follows the matching principle: for every 1,800 euros acquired by RWTH Aachen for a single scholarship from private donors, companies, foundations, associations, and organizations, public funds are provided to match the amount. Talented and high-achieving students from all disciplines can thus be funded for an entire year with a monthly stipend of 300 euros. The scholarships are purely merit-based and awarded regardless of a student's nationality or ethnic background. In addition to the scholarship, the Aachen program brings together the sponsors and students through an accompanying program, allowing them to establish and build contact early on and gain insight into everyday professional life.
