Advanced Talents
At RWTH, “advanced talents” denote excellent early-career researchers pursuing a professorship. This includes:
- Junior professors, both with or without a tenure track appointment
- Junior research group leaders
- Postdocs with awards and fellowships
By offering attractive employment and framework conditions, RWTH is able to appoint outstanding German and international early-career researchers. RWTH offers not only W1 junior professor positions but also an additional career path for talented early-career researchers, namely the tenure track professorship.
In individual cases, junior research group leaders and postdocs with particular awards and grants can be appointed to a W1 professorship in a closed process. These groups or fellowships may include the DFG Emmy Noether Junior Research Group, the Freigeist Fellowship from the Volkswagen Stiftung, or an ERC Starting Grant.
Early-career researchers also have access to the Advanced Talents Hub staff development offers and the Center for Professional Leadership’s offers for postdocs and academic leaders to support them in their professional and personal development.
