The Studies for Senior Citizens Program at RWTH Aachen again offers a variety of topics and activities during the 2018 summer semester. The new course guide is available now.
The focus is on regular university courses that are open to senior citizen students. RWTH Aachen banks on young and old to engage in a dialogue from which both sides can benefit. In addition, there are courses that are exclusively offered to senior citizen students. As every other semester before, the well-liked Wednesday seminar beckons: Lecture topics range from "Climate change and climate adaption – the example of Aachen" to "Recognizing user-friendly technology: 10 tips for users" to "Life-long growth processes in the human brain?." Work/study groups and discussion groups organized and led by senior citizen students are offered in addition. The field trip "Alden Biesen – grand residence of the German Order" is another highlight of the program.
By paying a 100 euro auditing fee per semester – a remission of charges is possible in exceptional cases – interested individuals can create their own schedules by choosing courses from a wide range of different subjects. Only very few courses require an additional fee. Everyone may participate, regardless of age or whether or not they have completed the university entrance qualification, or Abitur. An academic degree cannot be acquired this way, however. Individuals would have to be admitted to a regular degree program in order to do so.
The Senior Citizen Studies Courses start off with the orientation event on Monday, April 9, 2018, from 10am to 12:30pm, at Seminarraum 603 on level 6 of the HKW 5, at Wüllnerstraße 1, Aachen.
Registration is open from March 19 to April 27, 2018. Registration forms and transfer slips can be found in the course guide on the Website for RWTH Studies for Senior Citizens. For those already admitted to studies in the past two semesters, the brochure will be sent to you via mail. For all others, copies of the brochure will be on offer at local banks, specifically several Sparkasse branches, or at bookstores throughout the city. In addition, it can be obtained at the Registrar's Office at the SuperC, Templergraben 57, and at the RWTH shop located inside of the Hauptgebäude, Templergraben 55.
