Four RWTH Students Presented with Schüßler Award
The Schüßler Prize has now been awarded for the twenty-sixth time at RWTH’s Faculty for Civil Engineering.
This year, Leonie Hanenberg, Celine Rudolph, Marie Elisabeth Vogelsang, and Till Wellmann received the award. The award recipients were selected based on their outstanding academic achievements and their civic engagement. The award promotes budding civil and industrial engineering students with a 5,000 Euro scholarship for study abroad.
The award ceremony, which took place at RWTH’s CT² Center for Teaching and Training, was opened by Norbert Schüßler, managing director of Schüßler-Plan GmbH, and Professor Joseph Hegger, vice-dean of the RWTH Faculty of Civil Engineering. Professor Beate Wiemann, chief managing director of Bauindustrieverband NRW e. V., an association of North Rhine-Westphalian companies in the construction industry, gave the keynote speech, entitled “Building for the Future – Innovation and Opportunities in the Construction Sector.”
The Schüßler Prize was awarded for the first time in 1995 by the company's founder, Willi Schüßler. Together with RWTH, the company annually awards the prize to the University's best civil and industrial engineers.
Leonie Hanenberg and Marie Elisabeth Vogelsang are civil engineering students, specializing in structural engineering. They will spend their study abroad experiences at the universities in Marseille, France, and Montréal, Canada. Celine Rudolph and Till Wellmann study business administration and engineering with specialization in civil engineering. Rudolph will spend her study abroad placement in Lausanne, France; Wellmann intends to go to the University of Porto, Portugal.
