RWTH in CEWS University Ranking

Improved ranking proves success of RWTH’s equal opportunities strategy.

In the latest ranking released by the Center of Excellence Woman and Science (CEWS), RWTH Aachen University achieved tenth place out of 66 German universities evaluated. The university ranking according to equal opportunity aspects is published every two years based on German Federal Statistical Office data. Six indicators are taken into account, broken down by type of higher education institution - universities, universities of applied sciences, colleges of public administration, and fine arts colleges. Indicators are, for example, the proportion of women among professors or scientific staff. Finally, the universities are classified into top, middle, or bottom groups.

RWTH improved significantly overall, having ranked 22nd in 2019. Also, compared with the TU9, the nine leading technical universities, as well as the universities of excellence, RWTH Aachen University performs well, only the Humboldt University of Berlin achieves a better result. RWTH sees the ranking as proof of its equal opportunities strategy’s success.
