The Department 3.0 - Press and Communications belongs to RWTH Aachen's Central University Administration.
Our Responsibilities
The Department of Press and Communications is responsible for the University's media relations, science coverage, and event management.
Public Relations and Web Communications
We are responsible for press releases, press conferences, image editing, expert analyses, the organization of journalist trips and days, as well as for feedback evaluation. We publish the University newspaper RWTHinsight, the RWTH THEMEN science magazine, and the RWTH Annual Report on behalf of the rector.
We supervise TV and radio productions, develop RWTH movies and podcasts, and provide advice concerning target-group specific communication about teaching and research and questions on external and internal PR.
Online we publish, among others, daily news reports, info emails, and the digital press information service, and we maintain numerous news portals with announcements from the University. We also issue a daily press monitoring. Together with the web team, we are responsible for the editorial maintenance of the central webpages.
We distribute news daily and maintain close contact with our followers on numerous social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Xing.
Science Events and the Citizens' Forum
Our public relations events include the RWTH Science Night, to which the University consistently welcomes more than 5,000 visitors on the second Friday of November every year. Furthermore, the RWTHextern Citizens' Forum organizes events such as Uni at City Hall and Einstein's Music Box with the aim of providing a comprehensive picture of the University and presenting the public with a tailored entertaining and understandable look into research, teaching, and academic life.
Event Management
During celebratory events, RWTH Aachen honors individuals, who have earned significant achievements at the University, in teaching, and in science. Our event management team organizes special events to showcase these achievements. It is also responsible for holding internal celebrations and information events. This particularly includes the Graduation Celebration with 5,000 participants in the Aachen Soers Dressage Stadium and the Aachen Engineering Award, which honors a well-known individual for their service and work in engineering in the coronation hall of Aachen City Hall every year.
