RWTH Aachen Studies for Senior Citizens is once again offering a great variety of events and activities over the course of the 2018/19 winter semester. The new course guide is available now.

The focus of the program is on regular course offerings that are also open to senior citizens. RWTH Aachen is thereby actively promoting intergenerational dialogue, an approach that can only be of benefit to both senior citizens as well as young students. In addition, there are events exclusively offered for senior citizen students. As in past semesters, the popular Wednesday seminar, for instance, is filled with contributions from different faculties. Presentations cover topics such as "Climate Change as a Cause of the World's Refugee Crisis", "The Bible – an Outdated Book of Yesteryear or Sacred Scripture?" to "Donald Trump and the International (Dis-) Order." Several study groups or discussion groups are furthermore organized and offered by fellow senior citizen students. Also on the program: the excursion "Tour of the Roofs of Cologne Cathedral."

At a cost of 100 Euros per semester – the fee may be waived in certain cases – senior citizen students can choose from the entire program and put together a comprehensive schedule. Only a few courses require additional costs. As auditors, you do not have to decide on a certain course of study. Anyone can participate, regardless of age, or if you do or do not have an Abitur. An academic degree cannot be attained, since regular studies are required to complete one.

Start of Term October 8, 2018

The studies for senior citizens program starts in Winter Semester 2018 with an orientation event on October 8, 2018, from 10am to 12:30pm, in seminar room 603, on the sixth floor of the "Heizkraftwerk" building, Wüllnerstraße 1, in Aachen.

The registration period starts September 10 and ends November 15, 2018. Registration materials and a bank transfer slip are included in the course program. Senior citizens who have participated in past semesters will receive the brochure in the mail. The brochure is also available in stands in certain Sparkasse locations and bookstores. You can also find it in several service offices at the university, such as the Registrar's Office and the Info Center in the Super C, Templergraben 57, or the RWTH Shop in the Main Building, Templergraben 55. All information is also available online at Studies for Senior Citizens.
