NanoMicroMaterialsPhotonics – Key Technologies from North Rhine-Westphalia
NWMP "Topic Evening" presents key technologies from North Rhine-Westphalia: nanotechnology, microsystems technology, phonotics, and advanced materials.
For a highly advanced industrial federal state such as North Rhine-Westphalia, key technologies such as nanotechnology, microsystems technology, phonotics, and the broad field of new materials, are of particular significance: they form the basis for innovations and new products and contribute to finding solutions to the great challenges of our time.
70 percent of all innovations are made possible, directly or indirectly, through the development of new materials that have special properties and meet newly required specifications.
In order to provide insights into current trends and developments in such key technologies, the NanoMicroMaterialsPhotonics.NRW cluster, AMO GmbH, the RWTH Chair of Electronic Devies hosted the so-called topic evening on “Key Technologies from NRW,” which took place on September 25, 2018, in Aachen. Furthermore, the event sought to help technology experts network with each other as well as with users.
As the head of NMWP.NRW, Dr. Harald Cremer, explained, such information and networking events make it possible to develop new ideas and identify possible applications and use cases. “Often, cross-technology synergies result in completely new solution approaches, and for this reason, I find topic evenings on key technologies as exciting as events that focus on a particular technology.”

The NanoMicroMaterialsPhotonic.NRW state cluster is a public service body. Situated in Düsseldorf, it was set up in 2009 as part of the excellence initiative organised by the North Rhine-Westphalia state government aimed at consolidating NRW’s position in the nanotechnology, microtechnology, new materials and optical technology segments.
