"Hybrid Heating" Innovation Forum

29/10/2018

On November 8, 2018, the Department for Industrial Furnaces and Heat Engineering headed by Professor Herbert Pfeiffer will host the kick-off event for the Hybrid Heating Innovation Forum initiative. Against the backdrop of Germany's energy transition, the aim of the initiative is to establish an interdisciplinary, supra-regional network of partners from machine and plant engineering as well as plant operators, suppliers, electricty and network service providers to examine the opportunities of innovative hybrid heating solutions for industrial furnaces.

The Hybrid Heating initiative is concerned with the more flexible utilization of energy in the future and the resulting uncertainties, e.g. concerning the availability and costs of electricity. Energy-intensive industries are facing multiple challenges, for example regarding investment planning for building and operating energy-intensive facilities such as industrial furnaces.

As a result, machine and plant builders and their suppliers need to develop innovative strategies and business models that require the interdisciplinary cross-sector collaboration of partners from research and industry, especially between small to medium enterprises.

The Hybrid Heating Innovation Forum offers participants from the above named sectors to network and discuss strategies and to contribute – or jointly develop – solutions to the challenges at hand. As part of the initiative, an online platform facilitating collaboration is to be developed and a two-day Innovation Forum meeting is to be organized.

The kick-off event for the initiative will take place on November 8, 2018, at forum M, Buchkremerstraße 1-7, Aachen. For further information and registration, please visit the web pages of the Hybrid Heating Innovation Forum (de) or write an email to the .

"Hybrid Heating" is supported by the Innovation Forums for the Mid-Size Sector initiative from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, BMBF.
