RWTH Participates in “Orange the World”

Illumination campaign designed to draw attention to violence against women.

November 25 is the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.” Buildings around the world will then be illuminated as part of the “Orange the World” campaign. UN Women initiated this to draw attention to the issue. The color orange symbolizes a future without violence against women. RWTH Aachen University is also taking part in the campaign and will have its Main Building at Templergraben 55 illuminated in orange until 7am on Monday, November 29.

“About one in three women will be a victim of violence in her lifetime. Sexual discrimination, harassment, or violence are also experienced by women at universities. Our goal is the respectful and fair treatment of all RWTH members. We want to express our solidarity with the women affected and are therefore taking part in the campaign,” explains Professor Sabine Brück-Dürkop, Vice-Rector for Human Resources Management and Development.

The Equal Opportunities Office offers RWTH employees - anyone affected and their managers - confidential counseling and also provides information about support services on its homepage.
