As part of the RWTH Explains the Nobel Prize lecture series, Professor Astrid Kiendler-Scharr and Professor Moritz Helias will explain the research of the winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

 

Professor Astrid Kiendler-Scharr, Director of the IEK-8 Institute: Troposphere at Forschungszentrum Jülich, will present the topic: How Climate Change Is Calculated. Her lecture refers to the Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to meteorologists Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann. They are pioneers in climate modeling and have been crucial in advancing research in recent decades.

Professor Moritz Helias from the RWTH Chair of Theoretical Systems Neurobiology and Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine and Institute for Advanced Simulation at Forschungszentrum Jülich will give a talk on Structure of Disorder – The Interplay of Disorder and Fluctuations in Physical Systems. The lecture deals with the Nobel Prize in Physics winner Giorgio Parisi, who has significantly influenced research in seemingly chaotic structures in complex systems.

His lecture starts at 11 am in the OTTO-FUCHS Lecture Hall H03 at C.A.R.L. lecture hall complex, Claßenstraße 11, Aachen. The event is free of charge and registration is not required.
