Would you like to study electrical engineering but are not sure whether a university or a university of applied sciences is the right choice for you? Would you like to get to know the different specializations and career paths they offer first-hand?
This course of study is offered by RWTH Aachen University in collaboration with FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences and is targeted at students who would like to get an inside view of the degree programs in electrical engineering at both universities before making a decision regarding their preferred type of university, degree program, and specialization. With this program, the two universities are offering you the opportunity to get to know both institutions and get to grips with the initial, required subject-specific skills.
In contrast to RWTH’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering, this cooperative course of study comprises seven semesters and is set to begin in Summer Semester 2019. In your first semester you will take courses at both universities, after which you decide which type of university best suits you. You will continue your degree at your preferred institution and complete it there.
You will initially be enrolled at FH Aachen. During your first semester you will decide which field to major in, as well as where and how you would like to pursue your academic career.

Degree Content
During your first semester, you will be supported in the orientation process thanks to introductory courses and a close mentoring scheme. The course content comprises the following modules: Mathematics, learning to study, a lecture series, fundamentals in electrical engineering, fundamentals in physics, and technical English.
The subsequent semesters are structured in the same way as the regular degree program in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engineering – if you choose RWTH as the establishment where you would like to continue your studies. Prerequisites
If you would like to continue your studies at RWTH after your first semester, you must provide proof of a general or subject-related university entrance qualification certificate or equivalent qualification. More information can be found on RWTH’s website under "Admission Requirements". A university of applied sciences entrance qualification suffices for studies at FH Aachen.

The examination regulations are comprised of legally binding provisions on learning objectives, prerequisites for study, the course structure and processes, and examination procedures.

These general regulations are further specified and complemented by the subject-specific examination regulations.
If two examination regulations are valid for a degree program during a transition phase, the most current version shall apply to students enrolling in the program for the first time.
