RWTH Chair of Architectural History Develops Research Data Portal for Historic Building Research
The RWTH Chair of Architectural History, headed by Professor Anke Naujokat, is involved in developing a research data portal called “baureka.online.”
Partners in this endeavor are TU Berlin and FIZ Karlsruhe - Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure. The German Research Foundation will be funding the work over three years.
In historic building research, teams measure, draw, photograph, analyze, and interpret buildings and thus generate large amounts of research data. Up to now, a subject-specific research data infrastructure has been lacking. “baureka.online” is intended to remedy this situation. Designed for the German-speaking region, the platform is to be used interdisciplinarily. Three modules are planned: “baureka.index” as a contact point for research data and “baureka.storage” for archiving, publishing, and citing research data. An online journal, “baureka.publications,” is furthermore planned down the line.
