On November 26, 2021, the scholarship holders celebrated the start of the new funding period of the RWTH Education Fund together with their sponsors.
This year, the scholarship ceremony took place in virtual form for the first time. This was a pandemic-related decision, but the response from all sides was very positive!
Thanks to the professional implementation via the online portals used, a festive atmosphere could also be created virtually. Even digitally, the Coronation Chamber of Aachen’s City Hall provided the setting for the official parts of the ceremony, just as it had done in years gone by.
The one-hour main program was attended by almost 390 people and the possibility of networking and getting to know each other after the actual celebration was made possible via 62 virtual standing tables. A total of 385 of the particularly talented students were able to prevail in the selection process for the funding round 2021/2022 against more than 2,000 applicants from all disciplines, and are now supported by a total of 110 sponsors.
Presenter Anja Robert hosted the official part of the scholarship ceremony. After the greeting by Ms. Sibylle Keupen (Lord Mayor of the City of Aachen), the Rector of RWTH Aachen University, Professor Ulrich Rüdiger, welcomed the guests with a short speech.
He then thanked the sponsors on behalf of RWTH and acknowledged their commitment in a presentation. The awarding of the certificates to the scholarship holders was also carried out in digital form and was given a festive character by means of goodie bags sent in advance.
The virtual program was rounded off by musical contributions like RWTH's own Carbon Quintet, and a specially created video competition.
