RWTH's Studies for Senior Citizens Program Recommences in April
RWTH’s Studies for Senior Citizens is back with a wide range of topics and activities on offer in Summer Semester 2019. The new course guide is now available.
Many courses in the University's regular course catalog are opened up to senior citizens in this program – creating an opportunity for different generations to come together and benefit from an exciting exchange of ideas. In addition, some courses will exclusively be on offer for the target group.
The popular Wednesday seminar will return, with topics varying from The USA and United Europe, to Neurobiological Causes and Consequences of Violence, to Energy-efficient Air Conditioning for E-cars.
Senior citizens will also arrange and lead workshops and discussion groups. Moreover, an excursion to Vogelsang will be on offer this time round. This is centered round the theme of Determination: Member of the Master Race – Nazi Ordensburg Between Fascination and Crime.
You can join the Studies for Senior Citizens program for a fee of 100 euros per semester. This fee can however be waived in certain exceptional cases. Please note that you may be required to pay an additional fee for a few particular courses. Everyone is welcome to join – regardless of your age or educational background – and you may compile your own timetable as you wish. Please do note however that it is not possible to pursue an academic degree by taking these courses.
The Studies for Senior Citizens offer starts with an orientation event on Monday, April 1 2019, from 10am to 12:30pm, in Seminar Room 603, 6th floor, Room HKW 5 (former Heizkraftwerk), Wüllnerstraße 1, Aachen.
Registration from March 18, 2019
You can register from March 18 to May 15, 2019. You will find all the necessary documents for this, that is, your admissions application and fee transfer, in the course guide. We will send this guide out to everyone who was registered in the last two semesters.
The guide will also be available at the following places: certain bank branches, such as Sparkasse Aachen, some city bookstores, RWTH’s Registrar’s Office at SuperC, Templergraben 57, the RWTH shop in RWTH’s Main Building at Templergraben 55, as well as on the Studies for Senior Citizens webpage.
