New research lab to be established on RWTH Aachen Campus

RWTH Aachen University and Celonis, the global market leader in execution management, are expanding their strategic cooperation in the field of process mining. To this end, the University and the company have now reached a partnership agreement.

The new Celonis Engineering and Innovation Lab, to be established on RWTH Aachen Campus, will make it possible to achieve synergies in research and development and in the training of future process mining and execution management specialists. The new lab will focus on the further development of forward-looking process mining capabilities such as process recognition, predictive analytics, data-driven simulation, and machine learning.

“Celonis is successfully translating insights from cutting-edge process mining research into technologies that thousands of companies can use to improve their processes – and thus their performance,” says Professor Wil van der Aalst, a pioneer in the field of process mining. Van der Aalst is holder of the Chair of Process and Data Science at RWTH and serves as Chief Scientist at Celonis. On RWTH Aachen Campus, a culture of entrepreneurial innovation meets with a unique knowledge community, whose research competencies will give a further boost to Celonis.”

“Establishing the new Celonis hub on RWTH Aachen Campus is fully in line with our motto of ‘Knowledge. Impact. Networks,’ as it demonstrates how RWTH joins forces with partners to generate knowledge that has an impact on society,” says Professor Ulrich Rüdiger, Rector of RWTH Aachen University. “Building on the research of Professor Wil van der Aalst and his team, a young company has pioneered entirely new ways of improving business performance based on process mining. Together, we will continue to develop pioneering solutions in this field.”
