Vocation Description

As an industrial mechanic, you deal with the production pf parts, assemblies, devices, apparatuses, and small machinery; you primarily provide services to the industry and handwork. You must be able to read, draw, and then create the subsequent objects from drawings, sketches, and scenographies. You must also be familiar with different materials, their properties, and fields of application.

You need to master connection techniques, such as welding, soldering, gluing, etc. In order to keep up with new technology, you must acquire basic skills and knowledge in the field of control engineering during training. In addition to working with conventional and computer controlled machine tools (turning, sawing, drilling, cutting, sanding) you will receive training in mechanic, hydraulic, and pneumatic control and feedback control systems.

Due to the uniqueness of most of the test equipment, custom production is also included in training at RWTH Aachen. Great importance is placed a broadly laid out training curriculum, so that you can apply everywhere in industry and craft enterprises after passing the final exam.

 

Practical Training

Practical training takes place in the workshops of the respective university institutions. It is supplemented by the RWTH Aachen Berufsausbildungszentrum für Mechanik and through inter-company measures.

School Training

Classes take place, in part, two days a week at the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Schule, Berufskolleg für Technik der Stadt Aachen, Neuköllner Straße 17, 52068 Aachen.

 

Salary, Job Ticket, and Vacation during Training

Training Salary:

1st Training Year: 1,086.82 euros

2nd Training Year: 1,140.96 euros

3rd Training Year: 1,190.61 euros

4th Training Year: 1,259.51 euros

Contributions to capital formation: 13.29 euros

Job Ticket: starting July 1, 2023, 24 euros a month

Christmas Bonus: 95 percent of November salary

Vacation Days: 30 days a year
